The Supply Chain Demand Planner has a passion for coffee and a strong background in the food and beverage industry. They will be responsible for forecasting demand and ensuring the seamless supply of high-quality products across our franchise network. This role is crucial in maintaining optimal inventory levels of coffee, beverages, food items, and other essential supplies, ensuring that our franchisees can consistently deliver the BIGGBY® COFFEE experience to our customers. The Supply Chain Demand Planner will play a major role in maintaining strong relationships with our long-standing vendors and building new supplier relationships needed to grow the business and our growing inventory.

Job Type: Remote w/ Limited Travel

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Demand Forecasting: 

  • Develop and maintain product forecasts for limited time products associated with coffee seasons based on historical data, market trends, and input from the primary distributor and internal teams. 

  • Regularly update forecasts to reflect seasonal trends, promotional activities, and new product launches specific to the coffee industry. 

  • Utilize demand planning software and available tools to create accurate and actionable forecasts tailored to the unique needs of the food and beverage industry. 

  • Data Analysis & Reporting: 

  • Analyze sales trends, consumption patterns, and other relevant data to continuously improve forecast accuracy. 

  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to ensure accurate and appropriate inventory levels with our distributor. 

  • Inventory Management: 

  • Monitor inventory levels across the supply chain, including suppliers, distributors, and associated vendors. 

  • Support the procurement team to regularly adjust stock levels as needed across the distribution network. 

  • Proactively identify and help resolve potential supply chain disruptions, such as shortages of key ingredients or delays in production. 

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: 

  • Support the Procurement team in negotiating contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions. 

  • Provide guidance and support to franchisees on best practices for inventory management, order placement, and demand forecasting. 

  • Continuous Improvement: 

  • Identify and implement process improvements in demand planning and inventory management to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. 

  • Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in the food and beverage supply chain, particularly within the coffee industry. 

  • Lead initiatives to adopt new tools and methodologies that enhance demand planning accuracy and supply chain agility.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain strong relationships with long-standing vendors and create new relationships with vendors and supplies in the industry.

  • Manage performance and development needs of all direct reports through annual performance planning and regular performance communication.

Minimum Requirements

Education 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Food Science, or related field required

  • Relevant job experience may be substituted for educational requirements 

 

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in demand planning, forecasting, or supply chain management within the food and beverage industry, preferably with experience in the coffee or franchising sectors 

  • Negotiating experience

  • Logistical Management

  • Experience working in or with a franchise system highly preferred 

 

Knowledge 

  • Knowledge in building projections for seasonal product 

  • Understanding of market trends, logistical timing, and ease of resupply

  • Strong analytical skills with expertise in statistical modeling and demand planning software. 

  • Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills; experience with food and beverage inventory management systems is preferred 

  • Familiarity with the specialty coffee industry, including knowledge of coffee bean sourcing, roasting, and distribution preferred

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite

  • Organizational skills 

  • Project Management skills 

 

Ability 

  • Ability to oversee and improve the procurement process

  • Excellent communication skills 

  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively to stakeholders across the organization

  • Negotiate financial support for various BIGGBY® events 

  • Conflict resolution, relationship management, and de-escalation skills

  • Problem-solving skills

  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing supply chain challenges. 

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders 

  • Strategic thinking and planning 

  • Ability to build new relationships with new vendors needed to grow the business

 

Licensing / Professional Certification

  • APICS certification or similar supply chain management certification preferred

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally
