PLANNED GIFTS and MAJOR GIFTS OFFICER

Overview:

The Planned Giving and Major Gifts Officer’s primary responsibilities are to

identify, cultivate, and solicit donations from individuals and corporations. The

officer will also manage relationships with donors and prospects to ultimately

increase both the quantity and size of estate, life income and other planned

and major gifts in support of Our Lady of Peace.

inpatient hospice residence services, empowering patients to live their final

Our team delivers essential health services in a fun and supportive

The Position:

This position must demonstrate the ability to build and nurture effective

working relationships with organizational staff, and campaign volunteers to

coordinate donor cultivation, stewardship and recognition.

Stewardship of donors to increase both the quantity and size of estate, life

income and other planned and major gifts in support of Our Lady of Peace.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 Identify prospects: Research potential donors and identify those who are likely to

give major gifts or planned gifts

 Cultivate relationships: Build relationships with potential donors and deepen

relationships with current donors

 Solicit gifts: Develop strategies to solicit donations and steward donors through

the gift giving process .

 Manage portfolios: Keep track of donors and prospects in a portfolio,

approximately 125-150 individuals

 Educate donors: Teach donors and staff about planned giving and the

organization's needs

 Creative: Devise creative strategies for building and strengthening individual

philanthropic support

 Track data: Collect and analyze data to identify prospects. Monitor and report

progress of donor related activities and gift solicitations.

Skills

 Strong communication skills

 Works collaboratively with department to ensure proper documentation,

acknowledgment and recognition of donors

 VERY comfortable meeting with donors and public speaking

 Efficiency and accuracy

 Must be proficient in Donor Perfect Database

 Ability to work independently and in a team

 Knowledge of what Planned Giving is.

 Some knowledge of estate planning and forms of charitable distributions.

 Strong interpersonal relationship skills

 Ability to multitask and prioritize deadlines

 Analytical skills to assess donor needs and identify prospects

Education

 Bachelor's degree

 5 + years experience in fundraising, leadership preferred

 Experience making major asks and closing gifts including deferred gifts.

Position Details:

Fulltime position M-F and some evenings and weekends

Salary $70,000-$85,000 depending upon experience
