Job Description

The Multimedia Journalist produces multimedia content for the Springfield Daily Citizen. The journalist produces photographs, videos, graphics and audio content, and works with the Managing Editor and other staff in assessing visual needs, assigning freelance staff and selecting, assigning and uploading digital content for publication.

 Key job requirements:

• Four-year degree in journalism or related field, or experience commensurate with four-year degree.
• Minimum of two years journalism or similar experience and demonstrated visual reporting and digital content skills.
• The Multimedia Journalist must own their own equipment for producing high-quality photojournalism.
• Must demonstrate strong knowledge of photojournalism, including the skills to take and edit photographs to engage digital audiences. Must demonstrate ability to cover a wide variety of assignments, producing compelling work for all beats: news, business, government, features and sports.
• Must have skills needed to gather, curate and produce visual and multimedia content for news and features stories, with a focus on producing content to serve an audience using multiple digital platforms.
