Mid-Size Chicago law firm seeking a Legal Billing Specialist to join our team. This is a full-time position that offers a competitive salary and outstanding benefits. Job Description: This is an active position that requires attention to detail, precision in invoice and billing drafting, auditing, and an ability to create detailed reports timely. May also perform a variety of other accounting and bookkeeping duties. Candidates must be capable of independent work, possess excellent organizational and time management abilities and the ability to multi-task, and work in an efficient manner. Candidate must also be ready to provide immediate support to the billing manager and other billing specialists.

- Provide direct support to billing team leader and billing manager
- Make new matters and clients billable under specific billing guidelines
- Organize and enter attorney travel expenses into billing system
- Match expenses
- Enter client costs into billing system
- Audit, edit, print, and distribute drafts
- Make necessary edits provided from bill reviewers in billing system
- Create invoice summaries and invoice detailed reports
- Organize expenses and invoices to be mailed to respective clients/insurance companies
- Create E-billing invoices for submission. Specific e-billing functions to include (but not limited to): Setup E-billing matters accordingly to their respective websites (not limited to mapping matters or timekeeper/rate approvals), edit LEDES format as necessary (i.e. client case or claim number), Submit invoices in a timely manner; verify compliance and acceptance of E-bills, provide continuous information to billing manager to assist with management of invoice rejections, adjustments and appeals.
- Provide support to other Billing team members on e-billing invoices to meet deadlines
- Read, comprehend, and implement billing guidelines
- Setup budgets for client companies
- Update billing and accounting reports based on monthly/quarterly invoices
- Provide continuous information/updates to Billing and Accounting Managers to assist with management of invoice rejections, adjustments, and appeals

Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting or similar industry and/or equivalent relevant work experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Superior understanding of Microsoft Excel
- Previous law firm billing experience
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines.
- Ability to maintain work focus in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to embrace change and be solutions oriented
- Candidate should be highly motivated, detail-oriented, and possess the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Candidate should also have strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills
- Candidate must be focused on creating amazing client experiences and customer service
Preferred Education and Experience: - Previous insurance defense law firm experience
- Previous law firm accounting experience
