Job Description

Step By Step Inspections (SBS) is the leading provider of professional home inspections in the Charleston market. SBS has been serving the real estate industry since 1989 and is continuing to expand into new markets like Atlanta, Nashville and Jacksonville. Our priority is to provide homeowners and buyers the knowledge and confidence they need to make their best home purchase decision.

Come join a company composed of great talent and high performers, surrounded by a strong and healthy culture that’s made SBS an industry employer of choice!

The opportunity:

Join a team of the best home inspectors in the industry.

We have a proven track record of keeping our inspectors’ schedules busy! We are looking for a candidate that will fit our culture and will provide the highest-level service to our agents and clients. If you are a current home inspector and you love the inspection, but not the other parts of the business, SBS is the right fit for you. If you want to be doing more inspections than you currently are, SBS is the right fit for you. SBS is part of the LaunchPad family, which is the largest home inspection company in the country. SBS is growing fast and is creating a path for a better future for our team members. This position comes with huge potential and opportunity for growth as we expand across the country.

Impact and Importance:

If you want to impact the people around you in a big way, including team members, clients, and your community, SBS will give you the opportunity!

Our home inspectors are the face of our organization and represent SBS’s culture, values, and mission while engaging with clients and agents. We put in the work behind the scenes to make our organization the best, but it is our home inspectors that “run the ball over the goal line”. As an SBS inspector, you will have a major impact in the home-buying decisions of our clients.

What you will do:
  • Build positive relationships with home buyers, homeowners, real estate agents, and your team members.
  • Conduct thorough inspections on residential properties.
  • Complete high-quality digital reports.
  • Continually learn and train to increase your inspection knowledge and customer service skills.
  • Learn additional services, such as pool inspections, radon testing, mold testing, light commercial inspections, stucco inspections, pre-drywall inspections, and more.
What you will get:
  • Competitive pay, including training pay.
  • Benefits including insurances, 401K, paid time off, and paid holidays.
  • Initial equity in our organization with the ability to earn more. You will be an owner!
  • Fully remote work. Go from your home office to the jobsite each day.
  • Ongoing training and support.
  • Tools and equipment, such as radon monitors, mold testing kits, drone, and thermal camera.
  • A growing company that encourages leadership development and provides opportunities for advancement.
  • Knowledgeable, encouraging, and present leadership.
  • Family-friendly culture with regular employee events/gatherings.
  • To be part of an inclusive and community-minded organization.
  • Ongoing training and personal development opportunities.
  • Support from caring leaders and teammates who like to have fun!
What we are looking for:
  • Someone who loves customer service and has great people skills.
  • Construction background or inspection experience preferred, but not required.
  • Computer skills.
  • Dedication to continuous learning.
  • Someone who is teachable.
  • Someone that wants to contribute to a team and fits our culture.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Clean drug and background screening.
  • Someone who lives in one of our current service markets.
Physical requirements:
  • Bending and kneeling while inspecting a home.
  • Ability to stand/walk for many hours at a time.
  • Ability to navigate attics and crawl spaces, including crawling.
  • Able to lift medium sized ladders and smaller equipment.
  • Can operate during hot and cold weather conditions.
  • Home inspection is a moderately physical job.
