Salary: $25.80-$28 per hour

General Organizational Overview:

The Alaska Center is a 501c(4) nonprofit that engages, empowers, and elects Alaskans to stand up for clean air and water, healthy communities, and a strong democracy. We are working to transition our state from an extractive economy to an equitable, just, and clean energy economy in which all Alaskans can thrive. We advocate for protecting salmon habitat, clean energy solutions in the face of rapid climate change, and amplifying Alaskans voices in the public process. Our sister organization, The Alaska Center Education Fund, provides education and leadership development for youth and promotes civic engagement.

Position Overview:

The Fundraising Coordinator will work closely with the Development Director, Development Associate, and program staff to plan and execute special events, support donor stewardship, and assist with donation processing. Prior fundraising experience is not required, but the right candidate will be passionate about our mission and understand the critical importance of engaging supporters to sustain our work.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support and assist fundraising activities by preparing and processing direct mail and email initiatives, including merging and printing letters, newsletters, and other materials
  • Provide on-site support for AKC/EFs largest fundraiser, the Annual Auction, held in the spring
  • Assist with processing weekly contributions received by mail
  • Assist with writing and sending thank-you cards to donors on a weekly basis
  • And everyone in a while other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to take initiative as a self-starter
  • Passion for The Alaska Centers mission and vision and a desire to be part of bringing it to life
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work well independently
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and solution-based approach in high-pressure or difficult situations

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience coordinating in-person and virtual events.
  • Experience with Google-Suite platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Prior experience fundraising for nonprofit organization or political campaign
  • Ability to use or willingness to learn database systems (SmartVAN EveryAction and Greater Giving)

This is a part-time position with the possibility of increased hours, contingent upon staffing changes or vacancies.
