Job Description

Position summary: The Commercial HVAC Controls Service Technician performs technical service agreement tasks and scheduled assignments to ensure that automation systems are properly maintained and operating correctly.

Position responsibilities:

· Handles emergency service calls as directed during the workday and after hours.

· Responds to customer service calls (emergency, on-site, or on-line); checks indicated points of trouble; analyzes full requirements of system; checks and tests system components.

· Diagnoses trouble or defect; determines corrective action and repairs system.

· Performs preventative maintenance and diagnostics on automation system and components according to service agreement contracts.

· Tests and verifies system readings ensuring an optimal system operation.

· Identifies additional chargeable opportunities including time and material work, system upgrades, and service contract expansion.

· Prices, proposes, and proceeds with new work as per issued guidelines.

· Performs system checkout and assists in DDC systems start-ups for service installed jobs.

· Completes and submits service orders and reports covering all aspects of each assignment and activity.

· Participates in job site final walk and/or final completion for systems to service turnover on assigned jobs.

· Deliver technical support, coaching, and direction to end users and field labor when applicable.

· Other duties as requested by supervisor.

Essential skills, knowledge, and experience:

· Minimum of 5 years’ experience in building controls and automation, including troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair DDC systems.

· High school diploma, associate’s degree preferred ·

· Niagara AX and/or Niagara 4 experience required.

· BACnet IP, TCP/IP, LonTalk, SQL and Modbus protocols experience required.

· Excellent verbal and written communication and customer relation skills; team player.

· Must possess a valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record.

· Time management; organizational skills.

§ Physical demands: While performing the position responsibilities for this job, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, use and reach with hands and arms, balance, talk, and hear. The employee must possess finger dexterity, including the ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 35 lbs. This position requires the employee to stand up to 75% of the shift. Vision abilities include close, distant, and color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

§ Work conditions: While performing the position responsibilities of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time; including humidity, cold, and heat. The noise level in the work environment is minimal.
