AE Animatic Comp Artist

Location: Onsite - New Orleans, LA

At Swaybox Studios is rewriting the rulebook of visual storytelling. As we collaborate with DC Studios/ Warner Bros Pictures Animation and Matt Reeves’ 6th and Idaho on a revolutionary new project, you’ll play a vital role in coordinating the artistry and logistics that bring bold visions to life. This is your chance to help lead a production that’s equal parts innovative and unforgettable.

Swaybox Studios is seeking a talented AE Animatic Comp Artist to join our editorial and creative team on a high-profile, mixed-media feature film. This is an on-site role in New Orleans, perfect for an artist with a strong sense of cinematic storytelling, motion design, and an eye for pacing and visual rhythm.

You’ll be working closely with our editors and creative leads to bring early story sequences to life using a variety of media including hand-drawn storyboards, CG elements, and live-action footage. Your work will serve as the foundation for the final film’s visual storytelling.

Key Responsibilities

• Animate and composite storyboards, CG, and live-action elements in After Effects
• Create cohesive, emotionally driven animatic sequences from mixed media
• Collaborate with editorial and creative teams to assemble and refine story reels
• Apply cinematic principles—timing, framing, pacing, and staging—to enhance storytelling
• Maintain continuity, clarity, and narrative intent throughout sequences
• Take and incorporate feedback with speed and precision

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Proficiency in Adobe After Effects
• Experience working with mixed media: 2D storyboards, CG renders, and live-action footage
• Strong storytelling sensibility and understanding of cinematic language
• Ability to work within a fast-paced editorial pipeline
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Previous experience creating animatics, previs, or storyboards for film, TV, or animation

Preferred Skills & Bonus Experience

• Familiarity with Adobe Premiere , Photoshop , and/or 3D tools like Maya or Blender
• Background in filmmaking, animation, or motion graphics
• Experience working on hybrid or mixed-media productions
