SUMMARY

We are searching for an Adult Education Instructor to support adult learners in the acquisition of skills and knowledge in subjects relevant to achieving a High School Equivalency Diploma or grade level gains (reading, writing, mathematics, social studies, science), as well as the development of technology and test-taking skills. This is a part time position, approximately 20 hours per week.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

• Plans and teaches/facilitates lessons in mathematics, science, social studies and related skills for adult learners at literacy levels 3-6 in support of grade level increases and/or high school equivalency diploma.
• Administers scores, analyzes, summarizes, documents and enters data for client assessments: Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE) or High School Equivalency Test (HiSET) official practice tests.
• Works with the Director of Adult Education for ongoing evaluation and improvement of program and personal performance, and acquires skills and knowledge as needed or requested to further understanding of agency culture and/or to improve performance.
• Facilitates registration and orientation of adult education participants.
• Conducts and documents meetings with clients to discuss assessments, progress, and course of study.

The successful candidate will have the following:

• Bachelor's degree.
• Experience in relevant field. Experience teaching adult learners preferred, but not required.
• Strong interpersonal skills; excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team to develop programming for adult learners.
• Curiosity about how people learn; ability to create and deliver meaningful and engaging content to adult learners.
• Ability to meet students where they are in the learning process; ability to adjust methods and materials to meet the needs of unique and often varied learner population.
• Ability to integrate technology into classroom instruction, including use of online content when appropriate, and coach students in use of technology.
• Ability to work with adults of varying ages from a variety of cultural, educational, and economic backgrounds.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong time management skills; uses time effectively; consistently meets deadlines.
